MEETING MINUTES – November 13, 2002 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Association held on Wednesday, November 13th, 2002, at the Best Western on Smokey Park Highway. MEETING MINUTES November Program Highlights: The meeting was opened by President Terry Clark, SPHR, who reminded members that the deadline for submitting Scholarship Applications is November 15. Terry Clark announced that the WNC Student SHRM group is alive and well, with two new officers - Katherine Unger and Marggi Diercks-Walden Frank Pomeroy introduced the representative for November's Vendor - the Asheville Altitude. Corporate sponsorships, group discounts, and season tickets are now available. Members received pocket schedules for this season's games. The newsletter was distributed on November 14. Members are encouraged to submit items for the February issue by January 10, 2003. Send your contribution to either Lisa Claxton or Carol Rovelle. The December 11 meeting will be held at the Biltmore Estate. Reservations must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on the preceding Friday. Chapter Business: Members were asked to vote on the slate of officers for 2003. The new officers will be:

from the SHRM State Council, who will swear in our new officers. November Program Highlights: Susan Thompson introduced Penny Wofford, from the law firm of Edwards, Ballard, Bishop, Sturm, Clark and Keim, P.A. Ms. Wofford presented information and suggestions on handling the new HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act) regulations. Guests and New Members were greeted during the Roundtable. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
