WNC Human Resources Association Announces a
Special Program
(Asheville, NC): The next meeting of the
Western North Carolina Human Resources Association will be at 8:30
a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel in
downtown Asheville. This is a 3-hour professional development program
that will take place prior to the regular lunch meeting at 12:00 noon.
The program, designed for the entry
level Human Resources professional and the seasoned professional, will
feature speakers who are current and former officials with the North
Carolina and the U.S. Department of Labor. All have been involved in
investigating employers for compliance with state and federal wage and
hour laws, common employer mistakes, and investigatory initiatives.
Guest speakers are John Maloney, investigator with the N.C. Department
of Labor; John Blaine, District Director – Charlotte Area Office, Wage
& Hours Division; and George May, Wage & Hour Consultant with the law
firm Ford & Harrison and former U.S. Department of Labor
investigator.
The program is open to members,
students and anyone interested in learning more about human
resource-and management-related issues. Reservations can be made by

Western North Carolina HR Association members can attend both the
program and the lunch meeting for a special rate of $25. HR
Professionals who are not members of the Association can join during
registration to the member rate for this program plus many other
membership benefits. The non-member cost for this event is $35.
The Western North Carolina Human Resources
Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human Resources
Management, and is comprised of human resource and other professionals
from various area businesses and industries. The purpose of the
association is to develop the personnel function in each participating
company by close contact and cooperation with others in the same
field, to facilitate the dissemination of information of value to
human resource professionals individually and collectively, and to
promote positive human relations principles.
