 Understanding Ergonomics; Preventing Injury

(Asheville, NC):  The next regular meeting of the Western North Carolina Human Resources Association will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 10, at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel in downtown Asheville.

Guest speaker for the meeting will be Ron Hoechstetter, who has 15 years of experience in industrial rehabilitation and ergonomics.  During his presentation he will examine the causes of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD’s) and discuss the prevention and management of MSD’s.  How does ergonomics fit in the picture?  Ergonomics will be defined, risk factors identified, and ergonomic controls reviewed

Mr. Hoechstetter earned a B.S. in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University and a M.S. in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in cardiac rehabilitation from Virginia Tech.  He has received post graduate training in ergonomics from the University of Michigan, John Hopkins Educational Resource Center, George Washington University, and Matheson & Associates.

The Western North Carolina Human Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management, and is comprised of human resource and other professionals from various area businesses and industries.  The purpose of the association is to develop the personnel function in each participating company by close contact and cooperation with others in the same field, to facilitate the dissemination of information of value to human resource professionals individually and collectively, and to promote positive human relations principles.
