The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Alexandria, VA has awarded the Merit Chapter designation to our association for its scope of work in perpetuating and supporting the mission of the organization in 2004.

SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management.  Representing more than 195,000 individual members, the Society’s mission is both to serve the needs of human resource professionals and to advance the human resources profession.  Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 550 affiliated chapters within the United States and members in more than 100 countries.

“By achieving Merit designation, your chapter has distinguished itself as an outstanding organization dedicated to serving the networking and professional development needs of your members and to the advancement of the human resources profession,” noted Keith J. Greene, SPHR, Vice President for Member Relations for SHRM.

We will receive a Certificate of Recognition, a specialized banner to display at meetings and events, and will be recognized in SHRM’s publications and at its conferences.

Congratulations to each of our wonderful officers, leaders, and members.  Thanks for your great work in 2004...and in 2005.

Recognized by NC Covering Kids Program

Our Chapter was recognized in 2000 by the NC Covering Kids program of the Department of Social Services for its outreach promotion of the Health Check/Health Choice program for Buncombe County.
 

Charter Members

Western North Carolina HR Association SHRM #0570

 

Charter members are both Chapter members and members of the National Organization, SHRM, as of August 1999.
As of August 4, 1999, our Chapter celebrated a very momentous occasion.  We became an official SHRM Chapter.    It is hard to imagine that as early as 1955  a remarkable group of  Personnel Managers developed a networking system that became the foundation of our Association today.    Because of these individuals our organization was ready to advance to the level of professionalism that today's Western North Carolina Human Resources Association has obtained.
