HR WORKSHOP INCLUDES SESSIONS ON DIVERSITY, LABOR LAW

Western North Carolina Human Resources Association Annual Event Open To Public

 

 

(ASHEVILLE, NC): The Western North Carolina Human Resources Association will conduct a day-long workshop for human resource professionals and business managers on Thursday, Sept. 20, 8am - 4:30pm at Holiday Inn-Asheville Airport, 550 New Airport Road in Arden. Session topics* include:

 

·      Diversity in the workforce

·      Recruiting and retaining employees

·       Updates on labor law, including workers’ comp, immigration, FMLA, ADA

·       Occupational health

·        Domestic violence in the workplace

 

The workshop is open to the public. Persons interested in attending should pre-register by contacting membership chair Deborah Stewart.  Registration is $75 for members of the association and $100 for nonmembers, and includes lunch. The deadline to register is Sept. 14.

The Western North Carolina Human Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is comprised of human resource and other professionals from various area businesses and industries. The purpose of the association is to develop the personnel function in each participating company by close contact and cooperation with others in the same field, to facilitate the dissemination of information of value to human resource professionals individually and collectively, and to promote positive human relations principles.
