Mr. Monk and Ms. White will discuss the business and economic development implications of the WorkKeys System, and its emerging importance in the North Carolina’s workforce development environment.

The WorkKeys System is used for job skills profiling, assessment and skill building.  Virginia, South Carolina and Kentucky have adopted the WorkKeys System as the preferred method of matching individuals’ skill levels with the skill requirements of specific jobs.  Borg-Warner, Kimberly-Clark and Raflatac use the WorkKeys System as a major factor in their hiring and advancement decisions.  Soon North Carolina will be unveiling a Career Readiness Certificate Program that will award Gold, Silver or Bronze certificates based on an individuals’ WorkKeys assessment scores.

The program is open to members, students and anyone interested in learning more about human resource-and management-related issues.  Reservations can be made by emailing Mike Neely at mneely@ingles-markets.com, or by calling 669-2941, extension 310.  The cost of attending the lunch meeting is $16.00 for members and students, $20 for nonmembers, and includes lunch (a vegetarian option is available by request when making reservations).

The Western North Carolina Human Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management, and is comprised of human resource and other professionals from various area businesses and industries.  The purpose of the association is to develop the personnel function in each participating company by close contact and cooperation with others in the same field, to facilitate the dissemination of information of value to human resource professionals individually and collectively, and to promote positive human relations principles.
