WNC Human
Resources Association Presents Program Panel On HR Legal Issues and
Trends
(Asheville, NC): The next meeting of the
Western North Carolina Human Resources Association will be a
Special Program on Wednesday, May 11, in the second floor large
conference room of the Haynes Corporate Training Center at the A-B
Tech Enka Campus from 9:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.
The program will consist of four
panelists who will each provide a 25-minute presentation and then
answer questions related to their assigned topic. The following
topics will be addressed: FMLA, ADA, benefit plans, defined
contribution health plans, (HSAs and HRAs), employment discrimination/
harassment, and wage and hour issues. This will be followed by a
half-hour facilitated Q&A session on related and/or other HR legal
issues and trends. The panelists include attorneys Lisa Claxton,
Penny Wofford, and Jon Yarbrough, and wage and hour expert, George
May, Sr.
Participation in this program will
add to an HR professional’s knowledge by providing timely information
related to the ever-changing and complicated area of HR-legal
requirements and issues. This program provides an opportunity for HR
professionals to:
1.
Identify current issues and trends related to the panel topics.
2.
Gain strategies for avoiding liability related to the panel topics.
3.
Resolve questions and gain confidence on matters related to the panel
topics.
4.
Utilize the panel experts to answer other HR-related legal questions.
The
program is open to members, students and anyone interested in learning
more about human resource-and management-related issues.

WNCHRA members can attend both the program and the lunch meeting for
the regular meeting rate of $16.00. HR Professionals who are not
members can join during registration to get the member rate for this
program plus many other membership benefits. The non-member cost for
this event is $25.00.
The Western North Carolina Human
Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human
Resources Management, and is comprised of human resource and other
professionals from various area businesses and industries.
The purpose of the association is to develop the personnel
function in each participating company by close contact and
cooperation with others in the same field, to facilitate the
dissemination of information of value to human resource professionals
individually and collectively, and to promote positive human relations
