AREA AGENCY ON AGING TO BE TOPIC AT HUMAN RESOURCES GROUP

(Asheville, NC): The regular monthly meeting of the Western North Carolina Human Resources Association will be held at  12 noon on Wednesday, March 13, Best Western-West, 275 Smokey Park Hwy, Asheville. The program will feature resources available to help managers assist employees and their families as they age.  

            Speaker for the meeting is Joan Blee Tuttle, director of aging and volunteer programs at Land of Sky Regional Council, responsible for the Area Agency on Aging component of the Council’s work. Tuttle will address how the AAA can help with issues such as:

·         How to search for a nursing home

·         How to plan for retirement

·         Work options for low-income, older adults

·         Caring for aging parents

              The program is open to members, students and anyone interested in learning more about human resource-and management-related issues.  Reservations are required by 5pm Friday, March 8 and can be made by contacting Deborah Stewart.  The cost to attend the lunch meeting is $16.00 for members; $20.00 for nonmembers. 

The Western North Carolina Human Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is comprised of human resource and other professionals from various area businesses and industries. The purpose of the association is to develop the personnel function in each participating company by close contact and cooperation with others in the same field, to facilitate the dissemination of information of value to human resource professionals individually and collectively, and to promote positive human relations principles
