ASHEVILLE TALENT BANK TO BE TOPIC OF HR MEETING


(Asheville, NC): The regular monthly meeting of the Western North Carolina Human Resources Association  will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, Aug. 14, Best Western-West, 275 Smokey Park Hwy, Asheville. Featured speaker is Sharon Millen from the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, presenting a program on the Asheville Talent Bank. 

The Talent Bank was created by the Chamber to help the skilled and highly motivated workforce of Western North Carolina learn of employment opportunities, while providing employers an electronic tool to post openings for job seekers. 

The program will include the Chamber's efforts to recruit new industry and retain existing industry with tips on what HR professionals can do to assist. A brief question and answer session will follow the presentation.

The program is open to members, students and anyone interested in learning more about human resource- and management-related issues. Reservations are required by 5pm Friday, Aug. 9 and can be made by contacting Deborah Stewart. The cost to attend the lunch meeting is $16 for members; $20 for nonmembers. 

                                                                                                                       

The Western North Carolina Human Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is comprised of human resource and other professionals from various area businesses and industries. The purpose of the association is to develop the personnel function in each participating company by close contact and cooperation with others in the same field, to facilitate the dissemination of information of value to human resource professionals individually and collectively, and to promote positive human relations principles.
