 CORPORATE CULTURE TOPIC OF HR MEETING

 

 (WEAVERVILLE, NC): The regular monthly meeting of the Western North Carolina Human Resources Association will be held from 11:30am-1pm on Wednesday, June 6, at Gerald’s Fireplace Restaurant, located at 287 Weaverville Road between Weaverville and Asheville. A program on creating a positive workplace culture will be presented by Janis Allen, owner of Performance Leadership training and management consulting firm.

 

                Allen is the author of three books: Performance Teams; I Saw What You Did and I Know Who You Are:  Bloopers, Blunders and Success Stories On Giving and Receiving Positive Recognition; and You Made My Day:  Creating Co-Worker Recognition and Relationships (with Michael McCarthy).  She has also produced one audiocassette program, Janis Allen on Recognition:  What Everyone Who Works With People Needs to Know (with Michael McCarthy)

 

            Some of the organizations she has worked with are: Xerox, Eastman Kodak, 3M, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Midwest Express Airlines, United Airlines, Department of the Army, New York Department of Motor Vehicles, Coldwell Banker, Fiber Industries, GTE, International Paper Company, Philadelphia Electric, Corning, Tennessee State Finance and Administration, Walgreen’s, and Wisconsin Gas.

 

The program is open to members and anyone interested in learning more about human resource-and management-related issues.  Reservations are required by noon Friday, June 1 and can be made by contacting Deborah Stewart at Cooper Bussman, Inc., 669-6482, ext 110 or  dstewart@buss.com.  The cost to attend the lunch meeting is $15 for members; $20 for nonmembers.

The Western North Carolina Human Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is comprised of human resource and other professionals from various area businesses and industries. The purpose of the association is to develop the personnel function in each participating company by close contact and cooperation with others in the same field, to facilitate the dissemination of information of value to human resource professionals individually and collectively, and to promote positive human relations principles.
