MINUTES – December 13, 2006

Minutes of this Special Monthly Meeting of the Association held at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville.  Should you have any questions or comments, please contact  Rachel Bemis, PHR, our 2006 Secretary.
 

Opening

Kim Moser opened the meeting with announcements.  Kim introduced special guest, Leslie Eagle, District II Director of the State Council.  She reminded the membership that the 2006 invoices are now due.  Also if you are interested in helping on the Program Committee next year see Jon Yarbrough after the meeting.  The Chapter is hosting the 2007 State SHRM conference, which is September 26 through 28, 2007.  There are many volunteer needs for the Conference.   If you are interested in volunteering for the conference let Kim know.  There are also opportunities to serve as exhibitors at the State Conference. Kim thanked the past officers and leadership of the Chapter.  Frank Pomeroy announced that the application deadline for the scholarship program is January 7, 2007.

Programs

Kim recognized Leslie Eagle as our guest speaker. Ms. Eagle announced that Charles Martinez would be assuming the district role in 2007-08.  She reviewed the four goals of the District with the Chapter:

1. Member retention and recruitment;

2. Work force development;

3. Advancing the profession and serving the professional; and

4. Better customer service and support.
    

Members were encouraged to attend the Student HR Games in Charlotte on April 13 and 14.

New officers were installed. 

After the officer installation, Carol Rovello assumed leadership of the SHRM Chapter.  She thanked Kim Moser for her past leadership.  She spoke about the upcoming State Conference and the year ahead.
