  • The conference committee will meet on 7/13 at WCI.

  • The deadline for the SHRM Sons & Daughters Scholarship is 7/15

Ellen Westbrook announced that the program committee is working on an extended Diversity Workshop, a program by a Plaintiff’s Attorney, and a program about HR Halloween Nightmares.

Don Koppenhaver from Hubbell announced they have an HR Generalist position available and will send the posting to Donna for the website.

Laura Misner asked everyone to fill out a survey located on the tables.

George May announced his retirement effective 6/30/06.

Lorraine Poe announced that there is a conference planning meeting at WCI on 6/20 at 7:45 AM.

Kim mentioned that many members expressed on the member survey the need for more networking opportunities within the group.

There was no monthly vendor.

Kathy Molin, Transportation Demand Coordinator for the City of Asheville, provided the presentation.

She discussed the benefits to employees of using buses, carpools, and bikes to get to work.  Anyone interested in learning more about carpooling can go to sharetheridenc.org.  There are 500 people registered currently who are looking for people to carpool with.  If an organization provides enough workplace benefits to commuters, the workplace can be designated as a “Best Workplace for Commuters.”

Margie Mears from the Clean Air Community Trust also spoke about the importance of ride sharing and alternative commuting as well as the effects of car exhaust on our air quality here in WNC.

      Meeting Adjourned.
