HR Association: Culture? What Culture?
(Asheville, NC): The next
regular meeting of the Western North Carolina Human Resources
Association will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 10, at the
Renaissance Asheville Hotel in downtown Asheville.
Patricia Digh, author
and former vice president of international diversity programs for the
Society of Human Resource Management, will present “Culture? What
Culture?” Ms. Digh’s first book, Global Literacies: Lessons on
Business Leadership and National Cultures (Simon &
Schuster, 2000) was a Fortune magazine best business book for the year
2000. Her second book, The Global Diversity Desk Reference:
Managing an International Workforce, was published in June
2003 by Jossey-Bass. In her speaking and writing, Ms. Digh uses a
unique style of storytelling and inspiration, which has gained her an
international reputation for her innovative approach and ability to
galvanize reflection, synthesis and action, particularly around
diversity issues in organizations.
The
program is open to members, students and anyone interested in learning
more about human resource-and management-related issues. Reservations

The cost of attending the lunch meeting is $16.00 for members and
students, $20 for nonmembers, and includes lunch (a vegetarian option
is available by request when making reservations).
The Western North Carolina
Human Resources Association is a certified chapter of the Society for
Human Resources Management, and is comprised of human resource and
other professionals from various area businesses and industries. The
purpose of the association is to develop the personnel function in
each participating company by close contact and cooperation with
others in the same field, to facilitate the dissemination of
information of value to human resource professionals individually and
collectively, and to promote positive human relations principles.
